The weather may have been less than ideal, but that didn’t stop revellers attending the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup from crowding into the Mucky Pheasant yesterday. The annual polo tournament sees aficionados of the regal equestrian sport attend from near and far to take in all the action at Cowdray Park Polo Club in Eastbourne.
Known as the home of British Polo, the club is located within Viscount Cowdray’s 16,500 acre estate in West Sussex. Although the final match was the highlight, the day also featured a Spirtfire areal display, Segway Polo, fighting knights and helicopter rides.
Still, the Mucky Pheasant remained the centre of attention. As the official host of the match after-party, the pressure was on and Mucky more than delivered. This year it lived up to its name, with wellies and macs proving de rigueur. Swedish DJ Anna Korsgren was at the decks again spinning the very best in tropical house to a responsive sea of bobbing umbrellas.
Rain or shine, there ain’t no party like a Jack Wills party.
